To set the stage at a high level, could you spend a minute explaining the different strategic variations and execution methods used by major payers, like UnitedHealthcare, Anthem, Cigna, and Aetna, as they shift towards a more value-based care system? How would you categorize their strategies?
This strategy differs significantly from UnitedHealthcare, which acquires providers and aims for vertical integration. It is also different from CVS, which acquires providers but pushes primary care into their brick-and-mortar locations across the country. Elevance focuses on partnering with providers without acquiring them, allowing them to excel in what they do best. That's one component of the strategy.
