Yes, but it's probably still easier to allocate power to an AI data center, which will be used by a hyperscaler like Meta or Weave, rather than bitcoin. These are obviously safer businesses.
Well, it depends on how you assess risk. Bitcoin mining allows for curtailment, which isn't possible with AI. Bitcoin mining is forecastable, unlike AI HPC. With bitcoin mining, data centers run at full capacity, whereas AI HPC might run at 25% and then suddenly spike to full load, for example, if there's an unexpected event like a plane crash.
