To start our conversation, could you tell us about the current state of cloud migration? What are the plans for those still on the server?

With this in mind, creating a new app or plugin requires a completely different coding language and infrastructure. The migrations involve transferring data from a hosted Jira environment to a non-hosted or locally hosted Jira environment like Server Data Center, and then moving that into the Atlassian Cloud. This process requires a thorough evaluation of the migration process, as it's not a direct one-to-one transfer, and any add-ons or apps that the client is using.

To start our conversation, could you tell us about the current state of cloud migration? What are the plans for those still on the server?

You also need to consider how these apps will be replicated within the cloud, including any new configurations or updates that need to be made. Sometimes, the apps are not available in the cloud. Therefore, during a cloud migration, the consultant often has to determine whether the client really uses a particular app, as there may not be a cloud equivalent for it. This analysis is a significant part of the process.

However, there aren't many large enterprise clients in the cloud yet due to several reasons. These include security concerns, uncertainty about data location, and traditional thinking among senior executives at larger companies like Intel, Starbucks, and UKG. These companies prefer to keep everything hosted on-premises, not only for security reasons but also due to the high cost of migration.
