Absolutely, people first, not roles. Find good people, and they’ll figure out their role in the organisation. It’s one of those things where if you’re in high growth, you don’t exactly know how things are going to play out. But what you do need is good people, so go get the good people first, and they’ll figure out what to do.
If you’re drawing lines on organisation charts, you can have the most perfect lines, but if you don’t have the right people, you’re not going to be successful anyway. Whereas you could have no organisation chart, but if you have the right people, you’ll probably be okay.
