In your view, what are the trade-offs between increasing part consolidation via large casting, versus keeping more modular stamped belt sub-assemblies in terms of weight, cost, repairability, recyclability, and quality control? Is gigacasting simply a different method of car parts manufacturing and production?
If any company overcomes this first challenge, they will have technology that helps them consolidate around 250 parts. They don't need to design, make tools for, transfer by logistic chains, or weld each one on the assembly line. They will shorten the assembly line by hundreds of meters by removing these parts and substituting them with gigacasting.
