Why is woodworking so different from upholstery in terms of local dynamics?
On the other hand, when shipping upholstery into the U.S., fitting large sofas into a container is challenging. With tariffs and the potential of a container costing $10,000, the cost of upholstery increases significantly. These variables allowed much of it to stay in the U.S. Another important aspect of upholstery is customization. U.S. manufacturers can offer customized products with access to various fabrics. You can walk into a store, choose a fabric or leather for your sofa, and have it delivered to your home in three to four weeks. You can't get that with companies that manufacture all their upholstery overseas, as they won't store everything in the U.S. This allows for quick delivery.
