When working with someone new, he tends to ask a lot of questions as he learns the business. This might make him seem like a micromanager, but he really isn't. His initial approach is to get to know people, understand how they think, and how they approach the business. For him, and for the people at Ross Stores, he might initially seem very inquisitive and questioning. It's not a matter of distrust; he simply learns by asking questions. Once he feels comfortable with your ability to do your job and lead your teams, he tends to back off. The expectation then shifts, so that those reporting to him share important details or issues to get feedback or support. Initially, he might seem to dig very deep into the details.
