I heard the cost was $20 billion for a third of the network?
Cogent was in the right place at the right time, and T-Mobile essentially paid Cogent to take over the network, which is remarkable. Regarding the age of the fiber, Ciena, in conjunction with Cogent, commissioned a study involving Corning, the CTO group, and Sienna's development team. The conclusion was that there is no end of life for fiber. While I was at Ciena, we argued this point to potential Cogent customers, challenging them to explain why they believed there was an end of life for fiber. Often, they believed it because a vendor like Lumen or AT&T told them so. However, no one could provide evidence beyond hearsay that there was an end of life for fiber assets.
