Why is Stera able to offer a lower merchant discount rate?
That's a good question. Stera benefits from collaboration with Visa and SMBC. Generally, other payment service providers only transact with acquirers. However, GMO Payment Gateway works with Visa and SMBC as special partners. Visa and SMBC provide a very special rate to GMO, which is the reason for the lower MDR.
