I'd probably say a few more years. It works well, and we don't have too many issues. Candidly, my early experience with AstroNova was poor. It was extremely hard to reach the relevant people when there was a problem. Things have improved slightly. Now, if there's a problem, I can reach someone, and there's more proactivity in solving issues. If you'd asked me this question in the early days, I would have said I had buyer's remorse and regretted buying it. Now, I'm okay with it. An hour ago, I was fuming, but generally, the service has been reasonably decent. I think there's probably a few more years left in it.

[It's not tight. When you put this in the printer, it just won't accept it. It says it can't calibrate. So I've got 200,000, though I don't know the exact number, that are unusable. This has happened multiple times. Now, I'm left with no labels, and I have a busy warehouse behind me. I'm in trouble. Next week, I have nothing to print. I don't know what we're going to do or how we'll figure that out over the weekend.

I'll be honest. My assumption, which could be wrong, is that the ink cartridges are locked to the Trojan. There's a chip that prevents you from using any random OEM. One of the reasons I chose the Trojan was the cost of the ink. Compared to my previous printer, it was significantly cheaper, which was a big factor. When doing huge volumes, those pennies add up. I haven't looked elsewhere because the cartridges last a long time, and I've assumed, whether correctly or not, that they're locked. You can't just use any random ink.
