Why does Workday win against SAP or Oracle, and how has that evolved over the years?

We continue to see companies that spend weeks and months comparing functionality between those three ecosystems. Rest assured, there is only 5% difference in some areas. The functionality is not a reason to choose one above the other. I tell many companies who I advise and consult, don't waste your time on that because they are very close and it is a moving target. Workday, Oracle and SuccessFactors have two mandatory upgrades per year, so what you assess today will already be different than what you put in production a year from now when you start your implementation.

Is that for roughly 10,000 employees, or what size are you speaking about?

For $5 million, you have a core HCM implementation for an international company with up to 30,000 employees. If you go to 100,000 employees with a more complex, extended implementation, you end up in the $10 to $15 million range. For companies like Stellantis or Richemont, which are very decentralized, complex organizations with complex governance, you can hit $20 to $25 million. That is implementation work but also includes change management and a fair degree of consulting work.
