What makes Heico so good?

They have a very high first-time yield and very few rejections. When they sent a part, my receiving department rarely rejected it. Their workmanship is excellent. Quality should be a given, but years ago, when there were less reputable outfits trying to do PMA work on aircraft parts, quality was not a given. Thankfully, we've moved away from that. I believe the work I was doing with Heico involved arm boxes, interior arm boxes on seats. They were manufacturing these for me at a significant discount from the PMA.

How did you perceive Wencor's MRO offering?

Wencor had its ups and downs over the years. At one point, they were one of the best and had a decent MRO side. But about six or seven years ago, they had some management changes and their turn times, communication, and customer service went downhill. Shawn Trogdon came in and started to turn the place around with some really good people. I believe they are on the mend and that's what drove the Heico merger.
